Hi Kezo,
Happy new year. Looks are entirely subjective and I agree that the new tiggy is not very butch. The Allspace and Kodiaq don’t look too feminine to my eyes. Having enjoyed the 1.4/1.5 tsi dsg. for nearly eight years on the scheme, I have found them entirely adequate even in the larger Allspace with 5 on board. They deliver smooth torque from very low revs and @75 mph are near silent at 2,200 rpm. Subjectively, the newly acquired Touran is faster and also a little smoother, but is not the MHEV eTSI fitted to the newer cars. Weight is the key, being @1530 kgs vs 1825kgs and I suspect that your Tucson is heavier still with all the battery, motors, inverters, control units and cabling in addition to the ice engine. Agree. The 1.6 is a bit puny for a £50k plus Santa Fe, even with battery assistance. The Mazda CX-80 is a 325bhp 2.5 PHEV or better still, a 3 litre, straight six diesel!
new year trivia: In a 747, we worked on fuel burn of 3.5%/hour per kilo of any added payload/fuel. If you added 5 tons extra fuel for thunderstorm dodging in Hong Kong or Singapore, over the 12 hour flight, you burnt 2 tons of it getting there!
