Hi First post, so hello to all I have just ordered my first car, and whilst signing the forms the other day the Motability person at the dealership said something I wasn’t expecting. He said it is their policy, the day before collection, for me to…. 1: Pay £30 by card so they can put the same amount of fuel in (how do I know) 2: Give them my PIN so they can sort all the necessary paperwork out so it’s a quick handover the next day (say’s online that you have to check the vehicle first on collection) I may be new to this but it doesn’t seem right, any thoughts please.
As mentioned by others don’t give the dealer your PIN under any circumstances. It is you who is excepting the contract once your satisfied on the condition of the car and its the correct model ordered, not the dealers!
As for fuel, its upto you. If the dealer has suggested they will to top it up, you should request a receipt, although by rights the dealer should give one. If you prefer to fill the car up yourself, you have the right to do this, just inform the dealer and request a token amount be put in.
