Difficult one, but on balance, I’d say it’s more unusual than not.
Ask them to put a small amount of fuel in at their expense as a goodwill gesture.
I wouldn’t be paying money on your card up front for it.
Thinking back to the 3 Motability cars we’ve had: Audi, half a tank of petrol in on takeover day. Volvo £10 of petrol provided (stingy). BMW, fully charged battery.
