@kezo So sorry to hear that. I lost my Dad 5 years ago so know what you are going through.
Latest refill today (plus charging costs) gives me a true mpg equivalent of 43.2mpg. This was over 383 miles, comprising 165 miles of shortish journeys and a 217 mile round trip, all journeys starting with a full charge. That’s only 1 mpg better than my petrol BMW, although my long term average over 2,400 is still almost 5 mpg higher at 47 mpg.
I remain of the view that with local driving and short (under 60 mile) round trips, where the EV range comprises all, or a large proportion of the journey, the car is economical, but on longer journeys, where the EV range is a small proportion of the journey, it’s poor, due to a combination of it being a heavy car with a relatively small 1.6 litre petrol engine.
Having just filled up with petrol, and the battery being fully depleted, I’m going to run through the whole tank of petrol with no charging whatsoever, to see just how bad it gets. Im not due to do any long journeys but will have several in the 30-60 mile range. As a result, for the first time ever, the fuel computer in the car will be giving an accurate reading 😂 . I’ll let you know how things go.
