Not lazy, economically sensible and slightly more enviromentally friendly:
I extended the lease on my Mitsubishi PHEV in summer 2023, aiming for the full 5 years. The car was fine, I’d put less miles on the clock than I thought I would (happy circumstance that my commute now has accessible public transport). Extension was all very easy and Motability allow you start a new lease at any point within the 2 year extension.
This summer I started looking at replacements, given the long lead times (up to 9/13 months would take my lease up to the full 5 years). I therefore ordered a BEV in July expecting delivery next March, but a cancellation means I’ll get it in a couple of weeks. I expect to extend this new car to the full five years, as it seems crazy to replace every 3 years and it spreads the upfront payment over 5 years, making it more acceptable.
