    I don’t think so.

    It seems in Scotland, the building warrant system is mainly concerned with structal integrity of a building. In England and Wales a consumer unit change would be notifiable under part P certification. An electrician would still have to provide an EIC but, also notify building control of the work and the custemer is sent a Part P certificate for compliance and the same goes for new circuits, alteraions etc. However in Scotland replacing what already exists with something similar, I don’t believe does.

    On the other hand if a customer asked me to sink a suface mounted socket into the wall, it wouldn’t be classed as notifiable work under part P, because no new circuits or cuit alterations were made. However in Scotland, if you were to do the same work on a adjoining wall, it would require a buildings warrant!

    So in answer to your question I’m quite sure it doesn’t. Although both ways are quite similar, there also quite different and quite bloody confusing lol.
