@kezo Interesting consumption figures which seem to match mine. In HEV mode when charging the battery at the same time as propelling the car, the consumption seems to plummet to about 20 mpg, but of course that then buys me some EV miles so in reality it’s more like 40 mpg (although it doesn’t always ‘buy’ me EV miles on a 1:1 basis). As we have both discovered, Auto mode delivers better mpg than HEV mode. At a steady 60-70 mph in the BMW I could easily get 50 mpg, so the Tucson is definitely thirstier but of course it’s heavier. Thankfully all the local mileage with a full charge in EV mode more than offsets this, but it goes to show that whether or not a PHEV is right for someone is entirely dependent on the type of journeys they do.

With the Suzuki Across we are seeing 36/37 mpg in charge mode, on a run with a completely deleted battery we are averaging around the 55 mpg mark. Why such a big difference between the Hyundai and Toyota hybrid systems ?

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
