Morning @kezo I did a 58 mile round trip yesterday, once again in ‘Auto’ mode. On the outward run this mode kept the car in EV for virtually the entire journey. On the return journey it was mostly in EV until the battery depleted when HEV mode activated. Unlike the previous time I noticed that the battery charge level was building up and reached 20% without any additional miles in EV mode (you may recall that last time, when HEV mode activated, every time it regenerated 2 miles EV range the car reverted to EV). I decided to try to switch into EV mode myself and a message came up in the instrument cluster saying that this was not possible in Sport mode? Now I hadn’t activated Sport mode, or at least I hadn’t intentionally. I can only assume that when making adjustments to the touch screen panel (which I’d done numerous times with the ventilated seats, fan speed and recirculation), I may have inadvertently knocked it into Sport mode? One to watch out for.

Perhaps connected to this, the mystery over the petrol only range continues. I reckon that about 35 of the 58 miles was done in EV mode and the remaining 23 miles on petrol, yet the remaining petrol only range has dropped a further 30 miles to 271 miles. This is probably because the time that Sport mode was activated whilst in HEV mode would have been extremely inefficient, as it was propelling the car at higher rpm and charging that battery at the same time. Therefore, as range is based on petrol remaining divided by recent mpg, there was a bigger hit on range. On a positive note, the gauge still indicates that the tank remains around 85% full so I remain of the view that an accurate picture will only be gained after I refuel. The app is currently showing the correct ranges in miles, but seems to jump around between miles and km at will.
