    Pauld,

I had the same conversation with myself for some considerable time before deciding to continue with a new lease on Motability. My reasons were very similar to yours as I drive less and less as time passes.

For example, I’ve driven less than 2000 miles in the last six months.

However some of the regular short journeys that I make are to pick up my youngest grandson (14 months old) for the day and then take him safely home again which is a joy, and also to drive to the other side of town to collect two of my grandchildren from High school, and that is satisfying for the ‘in car’ conversations and it makes me feel useful.

The other short trips are literally just a couple of miles to the shops, or to local beauty spots where I’ll sit for hours enjoying a combination of outstanding scenery and good music.

Common sense might say that I’m not getting my “value for money” out of the lease, but what price do I put on my continuing independence and usefulness?

I’m an old guy and this may well be my last three years of being able to control my own mobility, so I’m determined to be the best I can be, even as that “best” diminishes with time flying by.

Make your own decision based on what is best for you, because individually all of us on this forum have differing circumstances and needs. This is about doing the best for ‘You’.

    Best wishes for the future.
