3.5 years into Allspace 1.5 SEL dsg. Excellent car. In 5 seat mode, hoist fitted, boot space is 700 litres and, importantly, length is over 1.1m. Kodiaq is slightly bigger and new one larger again. I share your sentiments regarding electric and pricing. The Allspace Elegance/ SEL is back on at the same price as Life and R line which is strange, but has the highest spec by far. I checked availability and quoted 9 months. Build in Mexico, but my reservations about build quality unfounded as no faults or rattles thus far. Will be superseded by a new model called Tayron. Am put off a little as now has hideous sliders for climate and haptic crud on steering wheel. Don’t like the new Tiguan interior and prefer Tuscan Ultimate.
