With a depleted battery the vehicle defaults to hybrid mode or we can selected hybrid mode, in hybrid mode we can easily achieve 50 mpg + not bad for 2 tonne SUV, towing a 1500kg caravan in hybrid mode we can achieve 35mpg.
The point I am trying to get across with a normal petrol/diesel vehicle you fill up and burn off fuel regularly, with these modern PHEV your fuel is sitting to long deteriorating in the full, we just need to change the way we do things.
