To be fair I did consider an EV and was put off by what I was seeing and reading and if it is a Motability car then the Depreciation factor is ok if I was buying no way would I as they are now losing so much money and some dealers do not want them. I am not here to dissuade people but just make them aware that for around town they are great but so is the Hybrid whid has the best of both worlds. Now if it was a plug in Hybrid I would not bother and go for an EV but my own choice I am happy I not need to have any Anxiety of having to charge.Another thing is I also think some car dealers and even Motability are plugging the EV and some dealers saying they have these EV’S ready to go and that can be enticing to some it was tried on me but I stuck with a factory petrol Hybrid and so chuffed I did.
You are aware manufacturers have targets for zero emission vehicle sales now? It’s getting to the point where for every 4 ICE and Hybrid, 1 BEV needs to be sold and when private sales are repressed by fears of depreciation and the FUD spread over social media and the press, then lease companies are getting great deals. Motability are the biggest lease company in the country, if you’re desperately trying to get your quota up, where else do you give substantial discounts and incentives?
Current stats are putting EV drivers changing back to ICE at something around 2% and a big proportion of those are Motability customers returning cars after issues getting a charger installed or refusal to install the charger. There’s got to be something in that.
