I’ve placed my order for an Ioniq 5 Ultimate tech RWD. Originally I was quoted 6-8 months. My current car ends in 6 weeks and didn’t want to wait this long, dealer managed to find me a car from stock, which will be ready for renew date. I really liked the look of shooting star grey so when I saw this was available I made my order. Since placing my order I’ve had 2nd thoughts as heard different opinions on matte cars in regards to cleaning and maintaining. Some say avoid unless your happy to clean on your drive every week with special formula, where as some say the SSG colour is not as bad and there’s no problem with automated car washes as long as you avoid the polish setting, just use foam wash. Dealer has offered me Gen 3 glass coat for £150, which adds a cost to the car suppository protecting it from chemicals and also a protection for the light grey leather interior. Has anybody 1) had an ionic 5 in matte? If so what’s your opinion experience? 2) had Gen 3 applied or know anything about it? Is it worth it £150? thanks Adam

Shooting star grey is the best colour for the Ioniq 5

There is no special care other than not using waxes on the paint finish.

It’s always best to hand wash any vehicle, there are a number of owner on you tube that show you how they look after it, but most will tell you other not using waxes etc on the finish its very very easy to have.

I would not recommend the Gen3 product, I would agree with mark these products are vastly over prices and do not offer any real protection other than for a month

there are wash products available for matte finishes that are the same price as other washes

DO NOT use hand car washes they use the cheapest products available, which contain reach harsh chemicals despite them saying they don’t and are not really any good for standard finish products too

Go ahead with the matte shooting star grey and enjoy the vehicle, as long are you able to hand car wash the vehicle or get someone to do this regularly for you.
