Thought I’d provide an update after almost two weeks of ownership.

Efficiency: Overall average is now now 3.5 miles per KWh. A longish round trip yesterday of 120 miles using A roads to North Norfolk and back (so fairly flat!) gave me 4.4 m/kWh. This was doing 60 where possible and included a couple of easy overtakes just using eco pro mode, so very happy with that.

I prefer the regenerative braking in Adaptive mode, this lets the car coast when you lift off the throttle, but brakes itself if you approach a roundabout or junction or slower traffic in front. Really clever stuff.

Have finally found a comfortable driving position!

Handling is much more “sporty” than our XC40 but the Volvo’s suspension was definitely better at soaking up bumps and ridges.

Running costs so far are peanuts as long as you do it at home and on a smart EV tariff. I charged from 54% to 85% the other night for £1.58. This would have been around £6.50 using standard rate electricity at home or over £16 at a rapid public charger. I’ve calculated that adding a similar amount of miles to our Volvo would have cost between £10 and £12 at today’s petrol prices.
