Pic 1. The meter tails going into and out of your elctric meter, to the Henley Blocks (two little black boxes) look like 25mm2 tails from the photo, which are fine. Should the meter tails going into and out the meter be 16mm2, which they don’t look like, these will be upgraded free of charge.
A 100A isolator will need to be fitted beteen the outgoing metertails and the two Henley Blocks. New meter tails, will be taken out of the top of the 2 Henley Blocks to and new dedicated consumer unit, that will suply the charger. At the time of visit, they will more than likely replace the keypad meter, if your electric is allready supplied by them or your going straight onto your new tariff. This work will be free.
Your earthing (green/yellow cables) looks like its 10mm2 which is fine.
Pic 2. You have a circa 1960’s- 1990’s black plastic cut-0ut, with supplied Protective Multiple Earthing (PME), which is fine and requires no upgrade, other than, the cut-out fuse upgrading if necessary, depending on your households total load calculations determined by the survey. (just because the cut-out fuse carrier states 100A, referes to thenax Amps the carrier can take – there is no guarantee the fuse inside is 100) Any ugrade work required to thecut-out is free.
Whether they go throgh the loft or clip the cable suppling the charger around the outside of the house, is normally down to the installer on the day. Either way you are allowed upto 15m of cable, to supply the charger. You would have also been told if a non standard install was required, so dn’t worry about that.
Its a nice little job, for whoever deoes it. Time wise in the meter cupboard, if they replaced your key meter 2-2.5hrs max and thats being generous and 2-3hrs for the charger work. I haven’t seen where your having your charger fitted but, its a good mornings work in total. However if your supplier’s own workers are doing the work, you can guarantee they will drag it out,especially if the office has said it can take upto a day lol.
