RAC are supposed to be there in 45 mins. If not you can ask Motability for a taxi home that’s what would happen. Fact is spare wheels are a dying option even if you buy one there’s few vehicles with room for one. Partly driven by the demand to reduce weight for emissions or range. Tyres exploding are pretty rare on well maintained cars usually caused by either under inflation maybe slow puncture or hitting something. Either way it’s a margin case you could also say what if a wheel falls off and I haven’t got a spare really you probably ought to not be driving the car you don’t know what damage has been done for example a damaged brake flexi
They offered us a taxi but when inputting that we needed one it jumped us up the priority list. Just as well, as I didn’t have the time to be messing around with cabs and having to collect the car again 40 miles from home.
I really do miss the run flats that I had on countless previous BMWs. I had quite a few punctures with them and just carried on driving normally until I could get a replacement. No hassle or inconvenience whatsoever. My wife wasn’t in a wheelchair then, but now they would be even more valuable. I think they are only available now if you upgrade the alloys, which I rarely do. Need to do some research.
