For the second time in as many months I have endured a six hour plus journey from Southport to Berkshire, mainly in the dark, mainly in the rain, mostly in nose to tail traffic, with miles and miles of delays etc ie nightmare journeys!
The QQ ePower got us safely and quietly home, yes quietly, almost in silence, although the engine did cut in & out quite regularly to top up the battery, albeit not obtrusively, and it returned 51.7 mpg overall!
At nearly 12 months old ( January 3rd.) and 9000 miles recorded, the average overall fuel consumption is 46.7 mpg , which I am extremely happy with, and is improving month on month, not by much, but nevertheless improving as is the distance traveled without the engine cutting in to charge the battery!
One thing that I have recently discovered, is to top up the battery before leaving home, ie dip the accelerator to start the engine, and run it for a few minutes first , thus ensuring a silent journey to town , some 3 miles, in traffic, with several sets of traffic lights and roundabouts to negotiate, and fuel consumption is at around 90 mpg .
