Thanks for all the quick responses. i was aware of Motabiltity’s guidance on installation of an EV charger , and the distances mentioned therein, but without going under the floor, there is no obvious ‘cable route’ to my driveway, hence the question “does Motabiliy offer a pre-installation survey service prior to placing an order for an EV?” I have Motor Neurone Disease, so accessing location of my electricity meter to take photographs is impossible for me and it’s difficult to explain to my wife/full time carer.

Hi, I would speak with Motability and request a pre site inspection prior to ordering. They do, do them but, I guess it down to who you speak to.

However I have never come across a situation in a domestic property, of the need to lift the floorboards for a charger to be fitted. If your meter is near or on an external wall, the prefered method would be to fix the cable around the perimeter of the buiding, to where you want the charger. Alternitavely it can be in trunking to the nearest external wall and a hole drilled to take the cable externaly if your consumer unit is in the middle of your house. If it is your preferance to go under the floorboards, it will be much cheaper and dare I say it a better job, to get a local sparky to lay the cable for you from point a to b and get Motability/Ohme connect and fit the charger 🙂
