Thanks for all your replies Had a chat with the grants team today who confirmed you can only put 50% of the award as extra towards a car. Doesn’t matter how you do that, just can’t be more than 50%. So the NVP could be used in our case but only £500, with the remaining £250 being ours Not the news we wanted to hear but isn’t the end of the world, could be worse, we could be left without a car
As John says, I would definately speak to grants regarding the £750 NVP payment. I would also speak with Motability on how this would work from the dealers perspective and reassurance you will get the remaining £250.
From my understanding the dealer is set up to allow the £750 NVP to be offset agains’t the AP and not a percentage of.
Again from my understanding if you were to ld to use the £750 NVP by the dealer, would your grant then be reduced to £749 from £999.
I think if it were me (after speaking to Mota and Grant) I would play it safe – If your funds allow you to find £500 to put to the grant it may be the safer bet and have the £750 NVP along with the GCB paid directly into your bank account.
