Thanks for the advice and info guys, very much appreciated. My list has now got smaller and I am left with the Tiguan, Kodiaq, Tarraco or Mazda CX-5.

 

Comparing the petrol entry level models I notice that the Kodiaq  1.5 TSI SE L Executive 5dr DSG, that is available from stock has the adaptive cruise control as an option at  £550 and the adaptive steering is £1595.00, whereas on the Tiguan Allspace 1.5 TSI Life 5dr DSG, it is included as standard. That could narrow it down to the Tiguan, Tarraco and Mazda CX-5.
