My understanding, is packs that, are not specifically mentioned on Motability’s car search, are not covered by insurance.
If that’s the case, then the Enyaq which would have been £150 more than the Ioniq 5 with Tech pack (covered by Motability) but carries that ongoing risk of a very expensive repair should anything go wrong. So, that would be me down to 2 cars, both Ioniqs…
Very good post MFillingham. I think you’ve just answered our question. Motability have listed the Ioniq 5 Ultimate specifically with and without the tech pack with the TP version costing £500 more as an advanced Payment. This obviously means that the tech pack will be covered by insurance. However, if you also order a very expensive optional heat pump (non standard on 5 but standard on 6) would that be covered? Nothing’s simple is it.
No because it is not offered as a discounted option by Motability as the Tech pack is!
However, you are covered by manufacturers warranty in the event of a fault BUT not by insurance, in the event of an accident/write off.
The Mazda CX60 is a prime example at showing discounted option packs offered by MB.
