When I picked up the ID3 there was little charge, like 30%. I asked why it wasn’t fully charged and the reply was they couldn’t afford it. Yeah right, shite service from VW Carlisle.

Given that a dealership with a service centre will churn through hundreds of pounds of electricity, I can’t see how a few quid on charging a new car will do that much damage.  I agree, very poor service.

Given how everyone on here is always going on about how cheap it is to charge an electric car, it’s both penny pinching and very poor service not to supply a new EV at least 80% charged, especially to Motability customers who may, by definition, have more difficulty charging a car on the public network than non-disabled customers. I’ve only driven one EV and the BMW dealer ensured that it was fully charged for when I picked it up, which was just as well as the stated range dropped like a stone once I started driving it ?

Even allowing for commercial rates rather than domestic that’s still not going to break any banks anytime soon.  As you say 80% isn’t that difficult and would be seen as good customer service, unless you know the customer has traveled a long distance to get to you, in which case I’d expect 100% to give them the best chance of getting home without encountering the public charging infrastructure too soon.

It’s the same with a test drive, I’d be mightily unimpressed if the charge was less than 50% and I had the car for an hour, if it’s a 24 hour or more offer, then it must start off fully charged.
