What’s put me off the Megane is joing a FB group and seeing all the problems some people are having. Charging issues, windows dropping, alarms, water ingress, fob batteries lasting a week, motor failures, poor dealer back up etc etc. Obviously people online will be posting about their problems but still… It is a lovely looking car though, and drove well, so I’m sure if I got a good one I’d be happy, and very unhappy if I had one of the Friday afternoon lemons. Had yet another test drive of a Mini Cooper S,definitely veering towards that now.
I also follow that FB Group and see a few people with issues which is common for most new models of car
Safe to say the only single thing I have come across is original fob battery £1 each died after 10 weeks
I have since replaced with Duracell and see how long they now last as the fobs are now in my complete ownership from new
No alarm issues 4me at all simply good practice is to use a RFID pouch when not in use
Just to expand on your fears and to explain to all that some alarm issues on first release was due to uk having to retro fit alarms at the dock ( suspect a rushed poor job on some)as EU do not require alarms to be fitted. Easy fix if indeed needed just by shortening a small cable in the interior light this was not renaults fault
Charging issue as far as Im aware was just for those using a Zappi charger this is now resolved via updates
A couple mentioned water ingress mentoned on FB ( I read all posts on that forum) is a simple misting in a rear light no issue 4 me
Windows are not dropping its people placing their hands on the window switch when exiting the car
Remedied simply by not doing that or turn off auto lock/unlock function as I prefer and when locking with fob simply holding down the lock button for a little longer will close any window the kids may have left open
There will always be as you say a Friday car no matter the make
As for dealerships I cannot comment as not had a reason to make contact since picking it up
Just to finish by saying the car is spectacular in every way
Ticks all my boxes may not for others
Encourage at least test driving
