    Hi all, new here.

I have gone through all the comments, and I wanted to share some information I received today regarding the i4 current orders without the build slots or order numbers, as well as the facelift model.

According to BMW Sytner Sheffield, it’s not unusual for any car manufacturer on motability to review orders, and this includes both the newly placed orders and the ones already progressing through different factory build codes. They will mostly honour all orders, however it has been known to cancel some which in this case, the newly placed orders.

They also stated that, this mostly happens when there is a newer model or a facelift on the horizon. This is the case that those new model/facelift build date is not affected by the current orders since they share the same factory line.

Which brings the last part, the facelift. Once a facelift is set a build date, and the current orders build dates overlap with the facelift one, then all current i4 orders will be part of the new facelift. All cars are built or locked for changes, which means all the current order codes have an automatic transfer to the corresponding facelift codes. As explained above, when the time for the new facelift build arrives, the whole factory is already prep for that particular updated model. There is no more factory line for previous orders that haven’t been fulfilled.

This is rare, as manufacturers will try to honour all of the current orders by managing the volume of these orders and that can include cancelling any last orders that might end up affecting their factory cut off times in time to bring the new model or the facelift.

I placed my order mid Sept, no order number yet, and by Sytner’s estimation, June 2024, or beyond. I should have shopped around with other dealers for different build dates, I just hope they do not cancel mine.

    Thank you
