I’ve just had a call from my BMW dealership to inform me that the i4 is coming on the scheme he’ll know more on Monday or Tuesday. I had an extended test drive in the active tourer schedule this morning but I’ve told him I’ll wait he’s arranged a test drive of the i4 for Tuesday so he must be in the know.

Interested in what can be meant by ‘review’ all orders with no build slot, you’re either cancelling them or not, what are they reviewing
they’re all at the same stage of the order process
I presume it means they’re deciding whether to cancel them or not. They are not all at the same stage of the process as some haven’t been allocated a build slot. The guy at Marshalls was saying that BMW’s focus with Motability is shifting the iX1 20 as he says that it’s unlikely to be popular with retail customers.

How did the bmw i4 edrive35 suspension and ride differ from the m sport version please? Was it as good cornering or too soft to enjoy on that manner please ?

Unlike the majority of previous BMWs, the suspension on the i4 Sport and MSport is the same, with rear air suspension.
So ride and handling will be almost the same.
I say almost because the Sport has 18″ wheels as standard whereas the MSport has minimum 19″ wheels with a lower profile tyre

November 20, 2023 at 11:38 am #248684Have just talked to Adam – Marshalls/Grimsby to change back order to Aluminium Mesheffect Interior Trim – Previously down as High Gloss Black! Missed that on the order update to include Sun Protection Glass.
Told me due to rising battery costs BMW are debating if they will absorb it or increase prices. Cannot continue with Mobility orders. Orders in the last 2 weeks might be affected if BMW haven’t given build slots for them.
Marshalls will do what they can to keep them for customers.

@72dudes The M Sport comes as standard with 18” wheels but the style of alloys differ it’s when you add the M Sport Pro pack or choose the 19s as an option, so the ride will probably be the same.

@tvs i’ve gone for the piano black myself, any reason you changed it? i know gloss is a pain to keep clean but looks immaculate when it is

Just spoke to my BMW dealer in regards to BMW reviewing ordrs without build slots and they are saying they have not heard of this. They reassured me my order won’t be cancelled.
November 20, 2023 at 4:53 pm #248750Ryan
Managed to finally speak to the dealership motability team.
Was informed that the order is going through as normal (relief) and that the car has been assigned a build slot – no build date/week yet. Most updated estimate is still April 2023. ReliefNovember 20, 2023 at 6:47 pm #248796Jamal
Hi all, new here.
I have gone through all the comments, and I wanted to share some information I received today regarding the i4 current orders without the build slots or order numbers, as well as the facelift model.
According to BMW Sytner Sheffield, it’s not unusual for any car manufacturer on motability to review orders, and this includes both the newly placed orders and the ones already progressing through different factory build codes. They will mostly honour all orders, however it has been known to cancel some which in this case, the newly placed orders.
They also stated that, this mostly happens when there is a newer model or a facelift on the horizon. This is the case that those new model/facelift build date is not affected by the current orders since they share the same factory line.
Which brings the last part, the facelift. Once a facelift is set a build date, and the current orders build dates overlap with the facelift one, then all current i4 orders will be part of the new facelift. All cars are built or locked for changes, which means all the current order codes have an automatic transfer to the corresponding facelift codes. As explained above, when the time for the new facelift build arrives, the whole factory is already prep for that particular updated model. There is no more factory line for previous orders that haven’t been fulfilled.
This is rare, as manufacturers will try to honour all of the current orders by managing the volume of these orders and that can include cancelling any last orders that might end up affecting their factory cut off times in time to bring the new model or the facelift.
I placed my order mid Sept, no order number yet, and by Sytner’s estimation, June 2024, or beyond. I should have shopped around with other dealers for different build dates, I just hope they do not cancel mine.
Thank you

@Jamal This is very informative and insightful. Needless to say, it make good sense. I’d go as far as to say a lot of reps in many dealerships up and down the country are most probably not aware of these ramifications and are almost as clueless as some of us customers. Thanks. (Here’s me partly hoping my order is in any potential ‘overlap’ batch. 😅)
I ordered my i4 on the 8th September. I got a letter over the weekend from Motability saying the lease on my current 3 Series Sport has been extended till March’24. Left me wondering if they were privy to something we aren’t. I’m not overly fussed though, I can wait as long as it takes. I love my 3 Series. I’ve had it 5 and a half years now. Not a day of trouble the entire time.

@Ladi121, thank you for your understanding, and I too hope for the overlap.
@POPS, thank you for your message and instruction.Your wording of a lot of new names cropping up indicate that some of us are not welcome. You could have just use simpler words… “hey Jamal, could you register to become a member” but I guess people are different.
Your second paragraph, it’s merely personal opinion, I’m sure anyone can pick up a phone and call BMW Sytner.
Moreover, I stumbled on this forum when researching specs and orders related to i4. And as you can see at the bottom of the page, Name and Mail, no where it indicates Register so clearly I would not have known that, and if you wanted registration to be mandatory, then what is the point of having that section at the bottom.
Anyways, it is the last me, that was short lived..hey!
All the best everyone and I hope all orders already placed, are honoured. It was an honour for me to stop by.

November 20, 2023 at 9:25 pm #248830A friend of mine who ordered his i4 as a Motability customer has just sent me a copy of what he’s received. I’ve deleted his name for obvious reasons.
Good morning Mr xxxx,
I hope you are well?
Just so you are aware, BMW have now removed the i4 from the Motability scheme, which has been replaced by the iX1.
The application with Motability was placed in time, however BMW are currently reviewing the latest orders placed that still do not have a build slot.
Your order is still awaiting a build slot, so I will send an update when further information is available.

Jamal, you are welcome here, registered or not. There is a lot of stress and tension within the mods at the moment. Please accept my apologies.

Beyond baffled now, spoke to two BMW motability representatives today (Monday 20th November) who assured I4s ordered from their dealership will all go ahead as planned – both confirmed the vehicle will be fulfilled – even though I ordered early November. Is it so that some dealerships just have more buildslots so they assign them immediately?

Hi Paul
Looks lovely in the grey i have also added parking assistant plus so good to hear feedback on it.
I was also tempted by the 19″ alloys they do look good hope i don’t regret sticking with the 18s
November 20, 2023 at 10:35 pm #248856@Paul fantastic looking car, i wasnt keen on the grey colour but after seeing your car I like it!
@Jamal thanks for the info, really informative. Sounds about right with the facelift because the 2023 edrive35 i4 started production in quarter 4 of 2022.
let hope some of us do get the facelift version, would be nice especially if the car is unlikely to come back on motability.
