We struggled for more than a year to save the AP + hoist money for the Austral we just ordered. Total was just short of £4k. The fact is, without things like power tailgate, seats, cameras etc. I wouldn’t be able to drive at all. Couple that with the struggle of finding a car that can take a hoist – very hard. It’s a horrible position to be in and I know it isn’t just me.

Confusicated, I totally agree with you and I think it is an issue that most people don’t understand, what may well be a luxury to able bodied people and some people with lesser physical disabilities, is an essential aid to the more disabled amongst us, for instance I am a Spina Bifida/Paraplegic and cannot get into SUV’s and I need Leather Seats (whether real leather or not), electric hight and back and forward seats, a large boot for my wheelchair, a 360 camera which is a huge help when you have hand controls and it has to be an Automatic which can add over £1,000 to the AP.

Not all wheelchair users need a WAV, but most will have to pay a higher AP for a car that meets their needs.
