The problem I foresee with giving a dealer £2,000 deposit is why they would need it up front, especially if you would simply get it back if you cancelled your order with Motability. What if the dealer needed the money up front because the dealer had a cash flow problem, then after you handed it over, they went out of business. You have given nothing to Motability, so they don’t have to honour it, even though they allow dealers to ask/demand a deposit which can come of an AP, but non of the money has been handed over to Motability and I have never seen anything saying that Motability will honour your deposit if the dealer goes out of business.
