Interesting thread as I had always assumed that the only reason that people de-badged cars was because they didn’t want people to know that they had the base model (even though those who know the type of car will be able to tell in other ways) ? I’ve never done it myself, but I am told that it is easy to do. You heat the badge up and slide a piece of cotton thread behind it.
