I have test driven both the epower Qashqai and the Austral in the past couple of weeks, as my final shortlist came down to those two cars. They share the same underpinnings, but different powertrains. Both are excellent cars, IMO. I ordered the Austral because I prefer its tech, higher mpg, and it has a larger boot for the hoist we need, but it was a close decision.
To answer your specific question, I found that the engine on the Qashqai was running often, but certainly not all of the time. The Austral’s ran much less.
