When it was time to Change the Tiguan i was not looking for a car ,with a high mpg particularly, although Economy was on the list, as diesel was getting expensive .

Tested the ID3( nice but very plain/ basic looking & too low to get in & out of), the ID4 ( still very basic looking & not very rapid, but loads of space to enter and exit ) and the Nissan Leaf larger battery ( very quick one pedal driving , excellent to drive, but too small/ low) . None of these had much of a range, and as we travel 125 – 225 miles each way, to Essex, Wales, Cornwall & Southport & the wife was anxious over stopping etc ie ‘ range’!

I ordered an ID4, anyway, but with a long wait, and in the meantime the Qashqai
    ePower caught my eye!

I have now done around 7500 miles ,over the last 8/9 months , in the QQ ePower , which is an ‘all electric drive’, just like any other EV, but unlike a traditional hybrid( with a part elec.motor/part ICE ) and unlike an EV which needs a charging station ,the ePower battery is charged by a small ICE , which returns over 50 mpg , and the car has a range of over 600 miles, and is quite quick !

It is not as big as an ID4, but is bigger than an ID3,& it is quiet, quick and fairly economical with no range issues ?

Unless there was a dramatic drop in price on EV’s, & an increase in low price chargers, especially at Motorway Services, I really could not be persuaded to go to ‘plug in EV’, at this point in time!

That’s not to say that I can’t be persuaded eventually, and I wonder what the thinking is on the ICE engine which charges the battery ?
