Solent60 I agree that there is a need for more charging points and government needs to do more but local councils are also not doing anywhere near enough.

My son is in a flat in Glasgow and asked me to speak to Glasgow City Council on his behalf to get info on a charger at his designated charging place. I phoned numerous times and got passed from pillar to post before being told they don’t deal directly with the public and I should contact some government body, can’t recall the name. They passed me an email address in the council and I tried to contact them on a few occasions but got no reply.

The need for more charging points is obviously clear but advances in battery tech can also help. At present it’s unlikely to get more than two cars charged per hour at any given fast charger due to the difficulty in charging batteries at speed. Battery tech improvements over the next few years will allow batteries to charge fully in between ten and fifteen minutes so massive battery tech improvements are on the way.

As I wrote on a similar post on the “off Topic” section any ICE ban date is pointless as drivers will change of their on accord to a BEV. The vast majority of new cars on the road will be electric not because of a ban but because they are better all round not to mention the reduction of gases, especially in towns and cities.

By the end of the decade we will have:-

1)BEVs that charge in five minutes

    2) Range in excess 400 miles on the relatively cheaper cars.

    3) No problem with cold weather driving.

    4) V2G chargers that make your BEV a money making, money saving investment.
