Are you sure this is even a fault? My husband had several diesel cars with particulate filters and what you describe was normal behaviour, when the car was used for short journeys. If (when) the filter got full one had to keep driving until it burned off the particles, or as you say return it to the dealer to get it sorted.
Yes, it’s been acknowledged by Hyundai and Kia as an issue.
