    It is essentially a plug in hybrid (PHEV), which will drive on electric power for around 50 miles – once the battery is depleted, the engine starts and acts as a generator to charge the battery which powers the electric motors so you can carry on your journey, similar to how the Nissan E-Power works. However you don’t have to plug the Nissan in, as its more a full hybrid.

    Given you have on street parking, it would be ulikely you would have the facility to plug it in at home to recharge the battery making use of cheaper electric to cover around 50 miles of electric only driving. You would have to rely on charging at supermarkets or more expensive charging points.  Incidently the MC30 r ev would take around 90 minutes on a 7kW charger.

    A hybrid such as the Renaualt Clio, Austral or Nissan would be more suitable as you don’t have to plug them in 🙂
