The goverment has said itself Petrol stations will still very much be needed and will still be needed after 2040. Asides that do you think the oil giants will just standby and watch?
I think you are basing part of your comment on the id5 low AP however the id5 is not a hugely popular car as electric cars go especially off the scheme. VW are grappling with better and cheaper contenders out there, then theres the point where the company is struggling to sell many of its EV’s, even again’st its own siblings. Even on the scheme the id5 has seen a massive price drop.
Likewise the Megane isn’t a hugely popular EV, Renault is trying to gain market share with the Megane as well as a history of not being the most reliable brand.
More to the point look at EV’s of a similar size on the scheme and their AP’s are the highest of any cars bar what few PHEV’s are on the scheme and of a similar size.
