Look at the Ioniq, Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, then look at the EV6 and the new Niro, have a wonder over to Ford and have a wonder around the Mustang, then go to a VW dealership and see what they have. I guarantee that you will understand very clearly just why VW are struggling. Even their ‘Budget’ brand Skoda are kicking VW’s butt on quality and design.
EV purchasers are being treated to a mass of well built, quiet and comfortable cars, whether that’s legacy manufacturers or the new to market (relatively) EV only brands. With both Chinese and American EV brands being a very real alternative to the more traditional brands and even the previously considered ‘premium’ manufacturers like Mercedes and BMW are finding that they’re not always the desirable go to for EV purchasers, when the likes of the EV6, Ioniq 5 and 6, plus new EV 9 are all getting more responses that the likes of the EQ range and the BMW ‘i’ offerings. Whilst there are some converting from ICE who will stick with their brand loyalty, those of us who weren’t necessarily tied to these brands can now find the sort of quality they were famed for without the need for paying premium prices.
Some legacy manufacturers will suffer and will have to complete rethink their positioning, processes or risk going away.
