other quick question….will it be worth waiting until 1st July to see what become available and/or are prices on AP likely to increase?
Thats the million dollar question!
Prior to Covid and the war, manufacturers would put a vehicle on a the beginning of a new quarter and it would stay on the whole quarter if not beyond, you could accurate judge what vehicle you wanted in advance and in many cases 6 months or more prior to renewing your lease. That is not the case anymore, manufacturers may put a vehicle on at the start of a new quarter and remove it the next day or part way through the quarter. Manufacturers may put vehicles part way through a quarter…This isn’t normal and its often difficult to judge what to do next. Then theres long delays from ordering to your new car being delivered, sometimes in advance of a year before you take delivery.
Its more common with manufacturers changing the secification of the car during manufacture, often with vital equipment for a Motability user such as heated seats missing or powered tailgate etc. In some cases a manufacturer has stopped production of the trim you ordered and you recieve the trim below it, blaming a chip shortage. Then there are times manufacturers order the wrong car or find a car, maybe a cancellation of a different spec you ordered and try to fob of on you. Luckily you can reject a car at any point right up to putting your PIN in on collection day or cancel if the vehicle is taking to long to be delivered. So we have some protection!
Some dealers will turn their nose up at Motability customers or more frequent won’t let you take a vehicle from stock. If this happens go to another dealer or be prepared to travel, if you see a vehicle you like order it as theres no guarantee it will be on the scheme the next day. If you are given long delivery times beyond what you were told, you can cancel and and go elsewhere or if you find one in stock their willing to let you have!
The scheme will never return back to its former glory prior to the Daily mail sticking their nose in, whether it will return to what it was prior to to the pandemic/war is yet to be seen!
Hope this helps and good luck with your search 🙂
