I know that feeling, my Autistic sons bank account is a joint account so I can keep an eye on things, I always worry someone will think it’s my money in there! Had a call from the car accident solicitor, because of the heart and brain damage he’s talking about me needing some long term support due to living on my own, he says it should be a “substantial” award. So now worried what it will do to my pension etc.
Hi Phaedra, I had an accident a couple of years ago and claimed compo. At the time a solicitor advised me (Mark Thompson law) to put the money in a trust, so it wouldn’t affect any of my money. It cost £500 to set up and DWP/HMRC can see it but, the money is not taken into account when working out any entitlements.
