There are strange people who are so certain of their particular beliefs that anyone who doesn’t share them is obviously a far right conspiracy theorist. Or if that doesn’t wash, they are clearly a Nazi. It’s not so strange that the people who are so accused don’t make similarly insulting claims against those people, because it’s self-evident what they are.

WW It is unusual ,to say the least, for right wingers to criticise /attack left wingers , on a forum such as this, but as Sir Tom has been known to say, ‘it’s not unusual’ for personal attacks and ridicule to come the other way! The same applies to people discussing religion which usually ends with insulting believers!

It is clear that belief in the existence of a God, is anathema to many, because of the lack of ‘ scientific proof’, and believers must accept this, but there is also no scientific proof that a God does not exist, there were no scientists ‘at the beginning ‘, if indeed there was a beginning, so non- believers must accept this also!

There is only limited scientific proof together with a huge amount of scientific theory that disprove some entries in ‘the Bible’, but so what?

It is just a storybook ,”written by man” , and therefore open to man’s interpretation – it is not some sort of instruction manual for life!

Zealots + murderers, from time to time, purport to carry out their heinous acts in the name of their God, but frankly, they are doing it for their own selfish ends , not because they have received instructions from God, and both believers and non believers condemn them equally.

I have a completely open mind- and I am thankful for scientific thinking , without which we would not have the means to have this discussion as there would be no computers or Internet, and most of us wouldn’t be here anyway, as we would have never have survived without scientific thinking and the discovery of new medicines etc, and I speak from personal experience.

But I also thank God for the millions of good people who provide comfort , in the form of religion, to the lost, the needy, the sick & dying – most of whom request it, desperately need it, and very often come to believe in it at the end!

Scientific thinking and a belief in a higher power are not mutually exclusive, so let us continue to tolerate other’s points of view , without sinking to abuse, safe in the knowledge that ‘ none of us knows the answer to everything’!
