The extension became common due to COVID and a shortage of cars. It was rarely heard of before then and probably less likely to be given.
I dare say restrictions will become tighter again once the flow of cars increases more. Like I said, I wouldn’t be using the extension to factor in a larger AP when you’re actually signing a 3 yr contract.
