I’m new to the motability scheme and I’m still undecided as to weather or not I should sign up to a car or not.

It’s interesting following these threads, and as I see it currently. If you have good credit then there is no point engaging in the scheme whatsoever. If however you have poor credit, then it’s winner winner. But you have to take advantage of the lead times and go for the highest specification car you can afford. Eg: A Fiesta ST Line X with a AP of £445 (£12.36) will cost exactly the same total allowance as a Mini Copper JCW with a AP of £3000 (£86/month)

Fiesta OTR £26.170 vs Mini OTR £34.115

There’s also a huge difference in running costs. Insurance, tyres, servicing, they will all be higher with the Mini (or higher specification car) and thats all free. Could go through a front set of tryes in 6 months (lol)

I think it’s about perspective and everyone is out to make money. Charity or no charity. Anyway it’s not like PIP isn’t free is it. I’ve got poor credit and was homeless for 3 years. The thought of driving around in a new car for me is something I never thought would ever be possible.

That’s my two pence worth anyway.
