Feel your frustration mrsdisney.
Due to wheelchair services finally giving daughter the proper.wheelchair she should have had years ago it simply won’t fit in the vivaro boot so had to cancel the order 8 month down the line.
Now we have no option but a wav vivaro, trafic, custom type size wav.
Ford order book closed, Renault order book closed, VW closed, Citroen closed, Peugeot closed. The only brand taking orders are vauxhall but only in the low spec which even then are taking 18m.
Not a single wav manufacturer can even put an order in let alone get a hold of one.
And due to the last 3 years of covid supply issues chips etc and motability having a massive change of how they release returned wavs there just aren’t any nearly new ones getting to dealers. Allied for eg have a waiting list 50 long for the size we need which at the rate they have been getting wavs gives an estimate of 9-12 month for a nearly new.
The whole larger family or larger wav is absolutely decimated.
The frustrating thing is motability know this, they know how tight the industry is especially on these things and these are needs not wants.
Without disrespect to others disabilitys you can drive pretty much anything in the short term so it’s ok to wait.
There are dozens upon dozens of e vivaros etc that where used as showroom models/demos with 1-4000 miles on them that surely motability could come to some agreement to purchase and bring into the fleet.
We are in the position where daughters wheelchair when she gets it on 7th march is having to go straight to school and stay there I can’t physically fit it in a Mazda 6 estate.
And it’s find 20k for a used tourneo custom or wait 12-18m on top of the 8m already waited for converters to start getting vehicles again.
