I would never buy a TV from ebay even a new one, unless the new one is from a reputable retailer, in which case I’d phone the retailer and purchase direct from them as there is more protection.
5yrs guarantee wll that depends on A/ are you buying from a retail shop whch offer 5yr guarantee B/ is the manufacrurer running a promotional 5yr guarantee on some of their TV’s, which can also be linked to why retail stores offer 5yr guarantees. For example richer sound dont offer 5+1 year guarantees on everything same with John Lewis athough they add an extra year free. Manufacturers also have different promotions with individual stores. There’s also the consumer rights guarantee that can last upto 6yrs
