The predecessor to the 2022 Sony X80K the 2021 X80J brand new at Sevenoaks sound and vision is on sale at £429.00. In comparison the X80K is now going for just under £700. Sevenoaks have it down for click and collect but, I believe they would delivery in the UK for free if you contacted them if it were of interest to you.

    Quick overview

The Sony X80K is the replacement to the Sony X80J, both are entry level quatum dot TV’s and have nearly identical with only a few differences between them. The X80J is a bit better in a few areas like its improved color accuracy and faster response time, but the X80K  is a little brighter and also has less stutter. The X80K comes with the updated version of the Sony remote, but it has the same voice control features as the remote with the X80J anyway.

Both the X80J and X80K have Sony’s Triluminous Pro (quantum dot) displays and sit above Samsung Crystal series and sit around Samsungs entry range of  quantam dot TV’s . Both manufacturers have their strengths and weaknesses when compared against each other. Sony TV’s also support Dolby vision as well as HDR10 formats as do other manufacturers apart from Samsung who adopt HDR10 only, which is less supported. Whether this matters at this price point is another matter.

Although they are entry level backlit quantum dot (luminous pro) TV’s they are better than your typical non qd display and actually sit at Sony’s midrange catargory of LCD TV’s, being one up from the standard luminous (quatum dot display on the X72.

Sony are expensive TV’s to start with and, in my oppinon there will probably better to be had around your initial budget if you want to go that high especially as 2022 TV start to come down in price. However there is no denying this is an excellent  TV for the price if you desired a Sony at a bargain basement price to keep costs down and also with a 5yr warranty at half the price of the initial RRP.
