Having been in someone curtesy car over the weekend, I’d take quaint old technology over VW group current awful infotainment
I completely agree. The move to everything being operated by touch screen is a retrograde step IMO. Far more distracting (and therefore dangerous) to use when on the move. I love the BMW iDrive system, with rotary controller, that is far easier to use than a touchscreen and much safer. It’s no wonder that it’s universally regarded as the best infotainment system on the market. I am really disappointed to learn that the all new BMW X1 has lost the rotary controller. A massive step backwards. What Car? clearly agree with me. This from a road test I read the other day;
However, the X1 no longer gets a rotary controller; instead, control is via touch or a reasonably effective (but far from perfect) voice command system. Losing the dial might sound a small change, but it’s enough to turn this from a class-leading system to one that’s fiddly to use when you’re on the move.
