Morning Mike, as @wigwam say’s Ph illips are now  made by TP Vision and have bought the rights to the name. Like the majority of TV’s their hardware is is made in Asian countries -China, Singapore, Taiwan etc.

LG make Oled displays fo 99.9% of the market, I’m not aware LG make  50″ Oled panels unless its a backdoor special for Phillips which I doubt and are probably produced by an American company called LumiBlade which Phillips have had a long tie with. Phillips TV’s are popular for theier Anbilight and gain good reviews and. There is no crap TV on the market today only cheap, budget, midrange and high range.

As wigwam you would be surprised who makes what these days-Hisense make Sharp TV’s are mainly made by Hisense. Vizio is another that have bought the rights to several brands and recently fall under their name.

TV displays are only made by a handfull of companies.

Pansonic I have got to say along with other HIfI equipment fall under the Matsushita cororation but their not shita ?

Back to your other question about your stand – A 50″ TV will be a thet maximum and inch wider than your current TV if that. Unlike your TV, TV’s today have ulta thin bezels (frame) for a floating display effect, so are not any bigger than your current TV.

A 48″ or 50″ TV would be perfect for your room and seating arrangement due to the basic law of physics on how TV’s are made these days. Initially you will get a wow effect and soon settle in to a more pleasurable viewing expierience 🙂

As for your other quetion re what do you really need for watching your programs I will answer when I get back. If you can think of anything else to ask in the meantime please do.
