Not quite sure whether or not i understood the question correctly, but for a 650 mile journey, i’d personally rent (or borrow from a family member/neighbour if available, with a temp insurance) a diesel.
220 miles though should be possible with a single stop and a small top up if/as required (5-10 minutes for a few miles to cover the rest). I don’t understand why yours simply isn’t doing it.
But, as mentioned, if i had to go unexpectedly somewhere 650 miles away, i’d take either my neighbours 3 series diesel, or my father in laws Jeep Compass diesel – either with temp insurance. If i had time to plan a 650 mile journey, i’d probably come up with a route that accommodates charging while i am sitting somewhere warm with coffee and something to eat – depending on whether or not it’s a joyride or has to be quick.
