    Hi Brydo, it’s definitely a financial gamble, I had my panels installed 5 yrs ago but held off with buying batteries because of the cost/payback.

    What I have found recently though is electricity prices have gone up and I was exporting 5Mwh back to the grid annually for little return.

    Panels have now paid for themselves, I estimate 4 years for the battery to return my investment, I am a month in.

    I did look at vehicle to grid but personally I think we are a long way from it and it’s going to be at least a year before gas electricity prices reduce because of the way it’s purchased.

    I did have some twitter dialog with Greg CEO of Octopus about a virtual storage account of generated energy like some accounts have but he advised that the infrastructure isn’t there for this. I don’t agree, I’m convinced that with the data we have, that some fancy maths could cover it.

    I struggle to understand why I pay 39p per KwH but only get 5.5p when I export, hence my efforts to consume every kilowatt I produce…….
