Was there anything specific about the MB GLB you found unimpressive? It has moved to the top of my list, so any info from a user would be helpful. Looking at the GLB 220D 4matic AMG Line Premium Plus Night Edition. A neighbour has a GLB AMG Executive and rates it highly.
Mike,
A relative of mine sadly died a few months ago and bequeathed me his then 11 month old Merc GLB – the 220D 4matic Auto AMG Premium.
Although quite a comfortable car to drive (seating wise) and having decent headroom and boot space, there were a few things I couldn’t get on with and a few niggles.
For example, not having a conventional auto gear stick – it is all done with the right hand stalk off the steering column – this leaves the left hand stalk to do all the other work and is over fiddly.
Where a gearstick would conventionally be (and where my hand naturally gravitated) , is the scroll pad for the main display – hence I ended up with lots of things I didn’t want on the central display or changed radio stations etc accidentally.
As for niggles – the screen just went blank for a day or so at seemingly random intervals.
The heating controls etc are a little flimsy – small plastic flick up/down switches – ended up with one broken off.
Yes, you can make the interior ambient lighting go all shades under the sun (usually by accident in my case) but then trying to get it back from bright ‘ultraviolet purple’ took some fiddling.
Plus, the 4matic with winter m&s tyres fitted wasn’t particularly good in the snow, mud or on ice.
In the end I have just moved it across to our family farm’s fleet and it is usually used as a run-around by anyone on the farm now as an extra vehicle.
Compared to my own LR Discovery I didn’t rate the GLB very highly.
