I’m actually just back from a Mini dealership there to see it
The last mini I sat in was over 25 years ago going to uni in a friends bright orange one, and I did not enjoy that one bit
So now back to the matter in hand
I really just wanted to see the size of it , how low it is to the ground , how I think I I would manage in and especially getting out on a daily basis
The little 5% of spark that I have left inside me is like “yeah, you’ll manage no bother” “C’mon, One last fun car”
Where as the 95% of me that’s already given up the ghost is like “Who are you kidding” ?
had a fairly lengthy chat to the sales rep and explained my situation of having recently extended for 2 years, in absolutely no rush or pressure to get a new one, and I had absolutely no intention of even looking until things changed
but that’s this had tweaked my interest and I just wanted to see for myself the dimensions
I have crutches, and 5’10 for reference
biggest concern is getting out on the daily , and the much lower driving position having had 3 SUV’s with a much higher driving position and overall presence on the road
they had a JCW hurt arrived that was going through it’s final checks etc before going out as a demonstrator so if I want to follow it up I can arrange a test drive shortly
Had watched some videos on them recently and messed around with their configurator as you do
For me the Premium Plus pack made the most sense and better value
I live alone since my little Dog sadly passed away recently so lack of doors, space in the back or boot is of no concern to me as it’ll only ever be myself in the car
Time wise and I’m no fool or have reason to doubt the information he gave me was JCW 3/4 months, Mini Electric 6 months and anything Hybrid up to 12 months due to a re-jigging and streamlining of their production
I told him if you say 12 months wait minimum it would have no bearing on my decision as I’m more than happy with what I have and I need no sugar coating , but again he reiterated the delivery times I’ve mentioned above
I think I will take a test drive in a week or so, just to get a better feel and to see if my fat ass could make could manage it
I don’t work, have a few medical appointments, no family or commitments so the majority of my driving would be for leisure & pleasure and even though I’m far from a boy racer I think anyone who appreciated a smaller car with a bit of oomph would get some enjoyment from it
So in a World of Doom & Gloom this car could bring a little ray of Sunshine to some
Interior looked good, it’s has that typical mini look, but with this trim line and model you get the digital dash we all take as standard , reverse camera , ambient lighting , pano roof blah blah
i tested the reverse camera and the quality was decent
So there you go, the car is live for orders , the Rep himself thought it was a mistake when it popped on but nope orders have went through
Finally the JCW hatchback was parked next to the JCW Countryman which I sat in and felt much more at home with its dimensions and the 3 Door looked much smaller!
Sadly the JCW Countryman isn’t available on the scheme at present but you know Motability these days… anything can happen
what’s next, Golf R, Rs3 , M3 ??
