I do about 8000 miles a year, once a fortnight a 30 mile round trip on A roads, 5 weekly trips of less than 5 miles round trip and the big trip once every 3 months or so of 200- 300 miles.
I drive 400 mile round trip every 3-4 weeks like a mild Stering Moss lol. I’m never in a rush to get into a high gear and use the gears to slow me from high revs. Perhaps thats why I have not had the gpf problem “yet”
There is definately a problem on the 1.6 tdgi found in the Sportage and Tuscon if you look on their respective forum’s. It could just be a simple software update but, untill the manufacturers know or can be bothered to sort it, there won’t be a recall.
As @gliders says its a tough choice. It may be worth looking on Sprtage/Tuscon forum at the issue before making your mind up if its the 48v mild hybrid you have. I also guess it will be a problem on both the FHEV and PHEV sooner or later.
